Public House Group has racked up another big win for charity, with the second annual Ladies Luncheon at Bistro Moncur in the Woollahra Hotel last Friday.
The inaugural 2016 event of the Ladies Luncheon raised over $135,000 for the Royal Hospital for Women, Newborn Care Centre.
This year, the $350 entry tickets, auction and raffles went even further, collecting $140,000 for the specialist women’s hospital.
The auction, called by Damien Cooley, sold off items such as an exclusive private dinner party executed by Guillaume Brahimi, a romantic couple’s getaway at Fiji’s newest luxury destination Kokomo Private Island, a bespoke Simon Johnson’s caviar experience for one guest’s next event, and tickets to the Lexus birdcage on Derby Day.
Mitchell Waugh’s Public House Group (PHG) also donated the use of Bistro Moncur Woollahra for the event, guests enjoying a Guillaume Brahimi custom three-course Bistro Moncur dining experience, accompanied by Moet and Chandon Vintage and cocktails by PHG’s mixologist Kurtis Bosley.
The event was hosted by PHG’s Harriet Waugh, with Karl Stefanovic as MC and special guests Jasmine Yarbrough, Kyly Clarke, Terry Biviano, Skye Leckie, Roxy Jacenko, Nicole O’Neil, Barbara Coombes and Ellie Aitken.
The Group champions “giving back to the community” and the Ladies Luncheon is one of seven charity events it hosts throughout the year. The Rugby Lunch at the Woollahra in June raised over $200,000 for Sydney Children’s Hospital; fundraising over the past 12 months tops $700,000.
“We are so grateful to Harriet Waugh and the team at PHG for their continued support,” stated Trish O’Brien, chief executive of the Royal Hospital.
“Last year’s fundraising efforts allowed us to purchase, among other items, a $76,000 Dräger Babyleo crib, which has been invaluable for our Newborn Care Centre. These cribs are equipped with innovative thermo-regulators that simulate the mother’s womb and are specifically designed to aid premature and acutely ill babies.”
The Royal Hospital for Women is the only dedicated women’s hospital in NSW, treating over 10,000 women each year, including hundreds for gynaecological and breast cancers, and 4,200 babies, including more than 600 premature and critical babies.
“The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation is a charity very close to our hearts and the $140,000 raised will contribute greatly to supporting unwell and premature babies in their Newborn Care Centre,” offered PHG CEO Mitchell Waugh.
