Laundy Hotels has contributed more than $80K to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation following two large-scale Mother’s Day fundraising efforts designed to support research and increase awareness around the disease.
This year, the group transformed one of the industry’s busiest trading periods into an opportunity to give back, launching a campaign across its venues that directed proceeds towards ovarian cancer research initiatives.

As part of the campaign, $5 from every main meal purchased on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 10, was donated to the foundation to assist with the development of improved detection methods and more effective treatments.
The campaign was driven by a personal connection to the cause within the Laundy family and wider business community, with ovarian cancer having affected friends, family members and employees over the years.
Justine Laundy said the campaign was established in memory of close family friends who had lost their lives to ovarian cancer in recent years.
“Our hope is to raise not only vital funds but also bring greater awareness and support to the women in our lives, and those we may never meet, who are bravely undergoing treatment.”
Beyond fundraising within venues, the family also rallied staff and supporters to take part in the Mother’s Day Classic on Mother’s Day morning, contributing to broader fundraising efforts for ovarian and breast cancer research.
The combined approach reflects Laundy Hotels’ intention to use its scale and community reach to support causes affecting women across Australia, while encouraging customers and employees alike to become involved.
While guests gathered across the group’s venues for long lunches and family celebrations, the initiative added another layer of meaning to the occasion.
With strong customer participation expected throughout the campaign, Laundy Hotels aimed to not only generate significant fundraising outcomes but also spark wider conversations around ovarian cancer and the importance of continued medical research.
“The reaction of staff, friends and family has been incredible,” Justine continued.
“Many people have been touched by these cancers in some way and Mother’s Day feels like a meaningful time to come together in support.
“We are celebrating women while supporting women.”
