SINGO MAKING TRACKS IN GOSFORD

John Singleton is building on his Gosford investments, launching his newest hotel offering, the Railway Hotel, beneath luxury apartments in the Gosford CBD.

Previously occupied as The Bon, the new Railway Hotel offering is on street level of Singleton’s apartments on Mann Street.

It is an evolution of the space, reverting to his more familiar high-end bar and steakhouse – in line with his popular Elanora Hotel, in East Gosford.

Singo bought the Elanora in 2019 and recently released plans to build a 40-60 room motel behind the Hotel, as the next step in a multi-stage redevelopment.

The 80-year-old ad mogul and personality resides in Mount White, where first stages have been approved for the 3.25-Ha Mount White lodge site, across from his restaurant Saddles.

These plans continue ongoing faith in the Central Coast that has come to see Singleton works at Gosford’s Bonython Tower, Point Frederick’s Ravello, Saddles and the ongoing upgrades at the Elanora.

A grand opening party for the Railway took place last week, headlined by rock legend Jon Stevens, supported by local acts.

More than 200 guests were in attendance, from tradies to former politicians, many participating in the nostalgia by dressing in costumes indicative of the 1920s Chicago railway.

Singo told local rag the Coast Community News he probably put too much money into the new hotel, because he knows nothing about building but had to have “the best of everything”.
