SEASIDE HARRINGTON HOTEL JOINS COASTAL CAVALCADE

The sea-kissed Harrington Hotel is being offered to market in mid-north coast NSW, for the first time in 23 years.

Situated in the beachside township of Harrington, around 330 kilometres north of Sydney or forty minutes south of Port Macquarie, the Harrington Hotel could be the closest licensed premises to saltwater, courtesy of the Pacific Ocean literally lapping against its beer garden retaining wall.

Known for its picturesque oceanfront all-weather beer garden and thriving food offering, the multi-level Harrington Hotel also counts a public bar, commercial kitchen, gaming operation with 22 machines, and a large adjacent car park, on an expansive 3,011sqm site.

The upper level finds six pub-style accommodation rooms, currently unused, and a three-bedroom manager’s residence.

It has been owned, operated and occupied by the Nixon family for the past 23 years, and reports very strong trade, but significant upside potential for a new owner.

The dormant accommodation means opportunity to capitalise on the rapidly changing, decentralised travel trends of the domestic tourism market, and beyond this there are other areas of the hotel that could be further activated, including increasing the size of the beer garden.

The Nixons have spent some money on aspects of the business, including a new quality gaming room renovation that has only begun to see its uptick.

Following a recent change in personal circumstances, the family think it is time and are looking to exit.

They have engaged HTL Property’s Andrew Jolliffe, Dan Dragicevich and Blake Edwards, who suggest it might be a “phenomenal” performer in the right hands.

Northern NSW freehold hotel sales have been raising the bar in 2021, as seen in the Short-Laundy big-ticket acquisition of the Lennox Hotel, and Winchester Group consortium buying Byron Bay’s Sun Hotel, both in the past two months.

The town of Harrington is undergoing several significant housing projects, some already completed, and has plans for a marina development.

“We’ve seen a deliberate concentration of focus on waterfront hospitality assets, from south-east Queensland all the way down to the NSW South Coast, and there has undoubtedly been an elevated level of attention afforded the NSW north coast in terms of deal activity,” notes Jolliffe.

The freehold going concern of the Harrington Hotel is being sold via Expressions of Interest, concluding Thursday, 27 May.
