MERIVALE TAKES ANOTHER IN NAROOMA

Justin Hemmes has furthered his push south, buying one of Narooma’s oldest and most historic buildings, Lynch’s Hotel.

Located on a 2,300sqm site in Narooma’s town centre, the Hotel features a classic bar, a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining areas, and traditional pub-style hotel rooms with common amenities.

“Every great town needs a great local pub!” says Hemmes, Merivale CEO.

The group is reported to have paid $6 million for the coastal retreat, and says refurbishment plans will be announced in due course.

“We have been looking for a heritage pub to further our continued investment in the region and our commitment to the wonderful people who call it home,” Hemmes continues.

“Lynch’s Hotel presents great potential in a township I have a strong personal connection with, and I am looking forward to bringing this project to life alongside the local community.”

Lynch’s represents the fourth venture Merivale has purchased on the state’s iconic south coast, joining the tiki-inspired Quarterdeck, bought March last year, the Whale Inn, bought in June, and most recently The Inlet.

Sale of Lynch’s by the private vendor was through JLL Hotel’s Ben McDonald, who notes an increasingly national trend of strong operators moving to coastal assets.

Merivale takes the keys and assumes operations at Lynch’s Hotel later this month.
