CARLTON’S CLYDE CHANNELS WHO’S WATCH INN

In a post-pandemic era of tempting people to vacate the couch, the Clyde Hotel is bringing some of the best of home to the pub, hosting a takeover by entertainment doyens Netflix.

For five days the Clyde has become the Who’s Watch Inn – a Netflix-themed activation – from Wednesday, 28 September to Sunday, 2 October.

The Carlton institution has been transformed into a trove of TV memorabilia, including decorations and props inspired by the biggest shows on the streaming service, such as the Demogorgon head from Stranger Things, Squid Game’s piggy bank, and the Parisian-style garden bench from Emily in Paris.

A food and drink menu has been constructed to complement the festivities, featuring the likes of ‘Emily in Parma’, and crafty creations ‘Squid Ink Dark Ale’ and ‘Rick and Morty Rickety Rickety Wrecked pilsner’.

Netflix is shouting patrons a complimentary drink on arrival.

The pop-up venue will play host to special events, beginning with a huge trivia night very likely to include plenty of Netflix-inspired questions on Thursday, 29 September.

And on Friday, Netflix is a Joke – a comedy line-up, from 8-9pm, scheduled to show Urzila Carlson, Nazeem Hussain, Melanie Bracewell and more.

The events are free, but spaces are limited and can be booked in advance.

Who’s Watch Inn will wow Melburnians:

Thursday, 29 September – midday to 11pm
Friday, 30 September – 11am-1am
Saturday, 1 October – midday-1am
