Marty Short and W.Short Hotel Group are bringing Wallabies to The Rocks to raise money and awareness for the close-to-home Gidget Foundation.
Next Wednesday (5 August) Fox Sports’ Nick McArdle will host a special lunch at The Glenmore, with silent auctions and special guest appearances and Q&A with rugby legends Phil Waugh, John Eales, Tim Horan, Greg Martin and Greg Clarke.
There will also be a money-can’t-buy prize of four tickets plus limo transfer and entry to the Fox Sports Suite for Saturday’s big Bledisloe Cup game.
The Gidget Foundation champions awareness and research into perinatal anxiety and depression – commonly known as ‘post-natal depression’ and typically understood to affect new mothers.
The Foundation reports the pregnancy and post-birth period (perinatal) actually affects one in seven new mothers – and one in ten fathers. Gidget herself was the sister of Marty Short’s wife, Simone, and tragically took her own life.
“The Gidget Foundation cares for vulnerable parents struggling with emotional distress during pregnancy and early parenthood,” chairman Dr Vijay Roach said to PubTIC.
“By hosting events and donating prizes, the W.Short Hotel Group has raised funds for our programs and increased awareness of these conditions.
“We are very grateful for the generosity of the W.Short Hotel Group, which has supported our work over many years due to a close family connection.”
Tickets are just $89 and available here. SOLD OUT
All proceeds go to the Gidget Foundation.
