THOMPSON SETS RED LION ON MARKET

The Thompson family has listed its newly refurbished Moorooka pub, the Red Lion, in Brisbane’s booming south.

The Red Lion occupies a prominent corner block on bustling Beaudesert Road, around nine kilometres from the Brisbane CBD.

Simon Thompson and partners bought the pub late 2014 and executed a complete makeover, encompassing the bar, lounge bar, bistro, TAB and gaming room with 28 EGMs.

The family venture recognises the steaming south-east Queensland market and has listed the freehold going concern through JLL Hotels’ Tom Gleeson, who brokered their purchase a few years’ ago.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to breathe fresh life into the hotel, and reconnect with patrons as well as the wider local community,” offered Thompson on the sale.

The renovation is seeing continued uplift in a venue the agent says is already a well-performing asset, with further potential including three additional bottleshops available under the liquor licence.

“The Red Lion boasts an operationally efficient layout that has only been complemented by the refurbishment, allowing for further connectivity from area to area and significantly increasing public engagement,” details Gleeson.

“The Hotel has been well positioned for growth, and would be suited as a strategic bolt-on or standalone acquisition.”

The Red Lion Hotel is being marketed through an Expression of Interest campaign.
