RECEIVERS LIST FORMER McLAREN’S LANDING SITES

The former, somewhat notorious McLaren’s Landing sites have come to market through receivers, offering over a hectare of beachfront hospitality on South Stradbroke Island.

The once-thriving day resort features two jetties, bars, seating area and facilities for functions. McLaren’s Landing famously hosted wild parties for around a thousand people, on a site only accessible by water, approximately 20 kilometres north of Southport Marina.

Lease on the site was to Tall Ship Sailing Cruises Australia P/L (TSSC), with sole director being Queensland operator Jason Nicholls, who is reportedly facing fraud-related charges in Southport Magistrates Court over missing thousands of dollars from deposits for 2018 Christmas parties that were not delivered.

In March this year Bentleys receivers and managers Tracy Knight and Damien Lau were appointed at the behest of TSSC mortgagee Commonwealth Bank, and in October WorkCover Queensland called a wind-up order on McLaren’s Island P/L, of which Nicholls is also the sole director, citing outstanding debt of over $100k.

The receivers have appointed HTL Property Queensland directors Glenn Price and Brent McCarthy to market the opportunity.

There are two sites, of 4,877 and 6,880sqm, each with its own jetty, subject to a ‘Rolling Term’ Crown lease expiring 2040, within the Gold Coast City Council Township Zone.

The applied liquor licence (#84592), dictating trading from 10am to midnight every day, is currently suspended, but available for transfer subject to relevant approvals.

The leases are for sale in one line, or may be sold separately, through a written Expressions of Interest campaign, closing Wednesday, 11 December.
