CHEUNG’S CBH DRIVES MORE CHARITY DOLLARS

Chris Cheung’s C!nc and the Coogee Bay team have chocked up another big win for the Sydney Children’s Hospital at the latest Coogee Bay Hotel Charity Golf Day.

2018 marked the 21st instalment of the annual charity drive, stemming from a long-term relationship between Cheung and the Children’s Hospital foundation patron, Emeritus professor Les White.

Last Thursday sponsors and invited guests joined C!nc at Bonnie Doon Golf Club, raising an impressive $213,500 throughout the day, through donations and auctions.

This brings the total raised by the golf day to nearly $3 million, which has seen funding into new facilities and initiatives including fellowship programs, two minimally invasive surgical theatres, a clinical wing at the new Ainsworth building, and contributions toward construction of the Bright Alliance building.

“I was pretty proud of that result,” offered Cheung. “The guys, everyone pulled together – especially all the sponsors. It just reflects the strong relationship and continued support we have with the trade and the industry.”

The new funds raised are earmarked for paediatric nephrologist Dr Sean Kennedy’s research into kidney diseases and disorders.

One of Australia’s best-known pubs, the Coogee Bay Hotel has also launched the Children’s Better Health (CBH) Initiative, committing in October 2017 to raising an additional $500,000 by November 2019 – now almost halfway achieved, with last week’s golf event.

“Coogee Bay Hotel has been central to the Coogee community for over 140 years,” notes marketing manager Lindsey Potts. “We believe in putting our money, muscle and minds into helping our local area and thus promoting health, happiness and quality of life.”
