Abbotts Hotel at Waterloo is hosting a special fundraiser for local legends Weave Youth & Community Services, featuring local legends Badass Barbeque and Young Henrys.
Weave Youth & Community Services (WYCS) provides a range of services to socially excluded young people, women, children and families in the heart of Sydney.
Tomorrow (Saturday, 1 April) Abbotts will be running a fundraiser, with entertainment, and four taps pouring from inner-west favourite Young Henrys – Newtowner, Natural Lager and Cloudy Cider, as well as the limited release Summer Hop Ale.
Cuisine will be courtesy of celebrity pub chef – former Feros Group head, and founder of Fork and Schooner pub bistro consulting, Mitch Davis – and partner in globe-trotting American-style slow-cooking superstars Badass BBQ, Men at Work PR’s Michael Willcocks.
Strong supporters of WYCS, Abbotts owner Bill Smith told PubTIC he knows the group’s results.
“We see very much first-hand the outstanding work they do in the local community. They do a great job,” states Smith.
“It’s a program that is always in need of more support, as they genuinely do help people in need. I’m extraordinarily happy to help.”
Badass will be serving their mouth-watering ‘Badass BBQ Box’ from 2pm, selling smoked pulled pork nachos, smoked chicken wings with Alabama white sauce, and brisket bao bun with kimchi slaw, from 2pm until sold out.
Davis revealed a reason this fundraising is close to his heart.
“I had a bit of a mis-spent youth,” he said. “My local youth community group got me out of a tough spot, and was one of the reasons I ended up becoming a pub chef.
“I have a lot of time for services such as Weave.”
