NRL legends and celebrities joined guests last Thursday as Feros Group kick-started the 2016 Hogs For The Homeless motorcycle ride.
The Hogs For The Homeless event began in 2013 and sees an entourage of riders cover over 3,500 kilometres and visit 17 country towns over three weeks, in support of Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off the Streets program.
This year’s ride begins today, and the crew includes NSW Origin representatives Matt Cooper, Josh Perry, Steve Roach and Ian Schubert, who attended the launch dinner last Thursday night at Feros’ Terrey Hills Tavern.
The Group supported the 2016 program by holding the charity dinner and launch event, plus donations of a dollar from every main meal sold at the Tavern in the week prior and from the Feros family.
Chris Feros told PubTIC he knows the value and satisfaction of community integration.
“We are delighted to have kicked off the Hogs for the Homeless fundraising efforts with a $10,000 donation from the Feros Group.
“Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off the Streets is an important cause and we are proud to have supported this charity and the Hogs for the Homeless fundraising effort for the past four years.
“Giving back to the community by supporting charities and local sporting groups is a key objective at the Feros Group and this was a cause we knew the community would get behind.”
The charity dinner was MC’d by Tim Gilbert from the Today show, and featured an acoustic set by Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson and a Q&A with NSW NRL legends, as well as a three-course meal by Group executive chef Mitchell Davis.
Hogs For The Homeless has so far raised almost $300,000 for Youth off the Streets. The 2016 ride will run Rugby League clinics in schools and local clubs, and help raise funds for these Rugby League clubs, and drive registration and participation.
