Brighton’s historic Esplanade Hotel is set to reopen next month following an $11.5 million redevelopment that includes the launch of a new boutique beachfront hotel.
The landmark Adelaide venue has been closed since October while owner ALH Group completed a major overhaul of the coastal pub, which first opened in the 1880s.
The first stage of the redevelopment has now been unveiled, with bookings open for the new 26-room Nightcap at Esplanade Hotel ahead of welcoming its first guests in mid-September.

Located opposite Brighton Jetty, the boutique accommodation features King Koil beds, smart TVs, room service and exclusive dining offers for in-house guests. Many rooms also offer uninterrupted ocean views.
ALH Group managing director Paul Walton said the investment reflects the Group’s confidence in both the venue and Brighton’s future as one of Adelaide’s leading coastal destinations, while preserving a hotel that has long been part of the local community.
The accommodation is only the first glimpse of the broader redevelopment, with almost every part of the historic hotel undergoing a significant transformation.
The redesign includes expanded hospitality spaces, new dining and social areas, and an improved layout. Refreshed interiors combine coastal styling with the building’s heritage features, including raised ceilings, exposed brickwork and warm natural finishes.
The company said the revitalised venue has been designed to offer a premium coastal escape while retaining the character that has made the Esplanade Hotel a local favourite for generations.
More details about the hotel’s food, beverage and hospitality offering are expected to be released in the coming weeks before the official reopening in early September.
Once fully operational, the redevelopment is expected to create more than 80 new jobs, providing a boost for the local economy while securing the future of one of Adelaide’s best-known seaside pubs.
