The state-of-the-art new Zagame’s House is further expanding its transformation, announcing a partnership with Uber Eats to provide delivery on over 100 labels from its in-house wine shop.
Launched in May 2019 Zagame’s House is the design-driven result of a thorough $18 million transformation of the hotel on Lygon Street Carlton, operated by the Zagame family for 16 years.
The ambitious project was led by Robert Zagame, with architects Robert Ficarra and Interlandi Mantesso, and interior designers Linda Whitfield, Surround Style and Kas Makohon of Lukas Partners.
Beyond design and finishes, the eclectic aesthetic is spearheaded by distinctive commissioned artworks completed on-site by artists Ryan Foote, Rosie Wood, Lulu Zagame and Karl Gordon, which play to the creative DNA of the hotel’s location.
Within Zagame’s House is the wine shop and bar dubbed Lord Lygon, stocking over 300 varietals sourced from Victoria’s wine regions and around Australia, as well as a selection of internationals hand-picked by Zagame group’s Marcus Radny.
Radny is ‘B&F’ manager – being Beverage & Food, and speaking to the group’s mission to “ensure that each guest is introduced to a new drink that meets their unique taste”.
“Our beverage offering has always been at the forefront, which is why we refer to our Food & Beverage services as ‘B&F’,” says Radny.
“Lord Lygon is a key example of the passion behind our beverage offering, so we are constantly looking for ways to get good quality wine into the hands of locals who may, or may not, have the opportunity to visit Lord Lygon as regularly as they’d like.”
In a market where would-be patrons are more regularly staying home and ordering in an increasing variety of delivered meal services, the Melbourne publicans see the wisdom in expanding their repertoire of appeal in the minds of Melbournians.
“We believe once the locals of Carlton have experienced what we’re offering, they’ll consider us for their next dining venue,” Radny continues. “Ninety per cent of our wine is unique and wouldn’t be offered on any other delivery platforms.
“We understand that people aren’t able to go out every night of the week, so we’re bringing the dining out experience to them.
“We want to be a household name in the Carlton area, and this is just another way that we can work towards doing that.”
