The East Hills Hotel is running a Gifts for Kids drive for Christmas, in aid of Barnardos Australia’s program to help kids in need.
Barnardos Gifts for Kids Christmas Gift appeal aims to give disadvantaged Australian children the chance to open a present on Christmas Day. This year hopes to raise 10,000 presents for children, some suffering abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness.
East Hills Hotel manager Aaron Downey has organised support drives for Barnardos twice before, at Soho Bar in Kings Cross, with great success.
“We are asking the general public for gift cards and new toy donations, which we will then donate to disadvantaged children this Christmas. I will personally be getting involved mid-December to assist sorting and distributing the items.”
Gifts and donations are being accepted until 10 December, after which they are handed over.
People can donate at any of the Don Hodge Group hotels – being the East Hills, Commercial Hotel Forbes, Forbes Inn Hotel, and Warners at the Bay – or contacting the pub through Facebook.
“It’s such a simple idea that any venue can get behind,” offers Downey.
“There are kids out there who have never experienced the joy that Christmas brings most families.
“We just want to be able to help in making this year’s Christmas time one to remember.”
