POLICE SEEK GROVE BOTTLESHOP BANDITS

Police have released CCTV footage of an armed robbery at a Mackay hotel bottleshop, as investigations continue to find the perpetrators.

The video shows a white Nissan Navara pull up in the drive-through lane around 8pm on Wednesday, 26 July.

A masked man in a hoodie gets out of the passenger side holding a shotgun, pointing it at the attendant, who puts his hands up and backs away.

The armed man demands the staff member removes the cash tray from the till. He takes it back into the ute, and the pair drive away.

It was confirmed the worker did not suffer any physical injuries.

The vehicle was a 2012 Navara dual-cab ute, registration 277STR.

It had been stolen from a nearby property several days earlier. It was recovered two days after the robbery, found abandoned, and underwent forensic examination.

A 25-year-old man has since been charged with unlawful use of the vehicle and is said to be assisting police.

“That person is still subject to ongoing investigations for the robbery as well,” relayed Ben Wood, Detective Senior Constable of the Criminal Investigation Branch.

The investigation is ongoing, and Queensland Police are asking anyone who may have seen the ute between 26 and 28 July, or has any further information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
