Pursuing big expansion plans cited by its new owners, Urban Purveyor Group (UPG) has announced the pending opening of its latest instalment of the Munich Brauhaus brand of beer halls.
UPG already operates a total of 28 venues and subsidiary businesses, and the new venue is “testament to the success” of the Group’s Munich Brauhaus concept already operating in Sydney and Melbourne.
“Munich Brauhaus is a one of a kind experience, bringing a true Bavarian party atmosphere that isn’t replicated anywhere else, and Brisbane’s buzzing South Bank is a fabulous destination to include in our rapidly expanding geographic footprint,” stated UPG CEO Thomas Pash.
The new venue will be located in the heritage-listed Allgas Building in Stanley Street Plaza, just metres from well-patronised Grand Arbour walkway and Streets Beach. Seating 750-pax, it will include five bars across three levels including a rooftop bar and beer garden.
The business model strives to be the all-year-round “authentic Bavarian experience and atmosphere akin to the bier halls of Oktoberfest”. This includes a huge range of imported beers and the growing, evolving selections of its in-house Crafty Bavarian brand, accompanying classic dishes such as haus-crafted sausages and a “stellar line-up” of schnitzels.
The beer-hall revelry continues with Bavarian bands and live music, and an atmosphere UPG call a ‘one-stop Bavarian hotspot of unrivalled proportions’.
The Group already runs an impressive line-up of hospitality venues and vertically-integrated supply arms, with plans to double its portfolio in the next two years. Already in the stable are: The Alfred, The Cut Steakhouse, Fratelli Fresh, Fratelli Famous, Saké, Saké Jr, Ananas Bar & Brasserie, El Camino Cantina, Bavarian Bier Café, Munich Brauhaus, The Argyle and Urban Events Venues & Catering, as well as Urban Fine Foods, Urban Beverage Imports and Urban Brewing Co.
Prominent capital firm Quadrant Private Equity purchased UPG in late 2015, installing US-born expert group portfolio Pash to steer its plans for the company.
Munich Brauhaus Brisbane will open in time for summer 2016.
