NATIONAL STARS REVEALED AT AWARDS NIGHT

Embodying the spirit of hospitality, the National AHA Awards for Excellence took place tonight in Hobart.

Over 500 VIPs and industry guests gathered at Princes Wharf No.1 for the biggest hospitality event in the state in years – the Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence annual awards presentation dinner.

The stella event was a shot in the arm for a beleaguered industry that has faced enormous challenges over the past two years, AHA National President Scott Leach lauding this year’s stars but noting the occasion was an acknowledgement of widespread resilience. (Full winners list below)

“Against all odds, industry operators right around the country have continued to provide the highest possible levels of industry service and customer experience.

“Their innovation, their optimism and their commitment has shone through.”

Taking the prestigious top honour of Overall Hotel of the Year (Metropolitan) was the Comiskey Group’s immense Sandstone Point Hotel. The mega-pub also picked up Best Marketed Hotel – General Division, and the group also took home Best Meeting and Events Venue, for its other stalwart, the Eaton’s Hill Hotel.

And exemplifying the power of teamwork in tough times, Best Hotel Group Operator, went to the indomitable Sand Hill Road, in Melbourne, who relay the win was a “huge lift” after troubled times.

“We are so pumped and appreciative of such a prestigious award, and we so wish we were there in person to give our love to an industry that really needs it right now,” SHR CEO Bianca Dawson told PubTIC.
