LEWIS LAND GROUP EMPLOYEES WALK 43 MILLION STEPS

Lewis Land Group has put $50k on the line, challenging employees to walk 30 million steps, in pursuit of wellbeing and helping people with cerebral palsy.

With the goal of combatting the lockdown blues manifesting in its NSW staff, and to raise money and awareness for an important cause, LLG signed up for STEPtember.

Group employees at The Fiddler, The Camden Valley Inn, Sovereign Hills and Head Office were all set the challenge of walking 10,000 steps per day.

If together they achieved a total of 30,000,000 steps over the month, Lewis Foundation committed to donate a further $50,000 to the STEPtember cause.

Wrapping up the 30 days, 143 participants accumulated a total of 42,699,733 steps, averaging slightly over 331K each. This came courtesy of 20.3 million out of Camden Valley Inn, 15.5 million at The Fiddler, 4.7 million from head office, and 2.2 million through Sovereign Hills.

The team raised $19,602.10 through their own sponsors, adding to the LLG pledge.

Lewis Group recently soft-launched its first in-house mental health and wellbeing program, called Mind, Body, Soul, which aims to improve the wellbeing of staff, particularly during lockdown. It incorporates initiatives such as online training courses, meditation and yoga, virtual team bonding and more.

STEPtember was one of the initiatives undertaken to launch the new program.

“Our new Mind Body Soul program is a reflection of the Group being mindful of its staff and we are looking forward to continuing this program throughout lockdown and beyond,” said Matthew McCarron, Lewis Land Group CEO.

Lewis lays claim to being Australia’s oldest private property developer, and acknowledges the importance of mental health and wellbeing during the prolonged NSW lockdown, beyond its usual respect for CSR initiatives.

“We’ve definitely seen a shift in motivation and employee engagement, so in an effort to help our teams feel like they are part of something bigger, we thought a team challenge combined with a charity would be well-received.”
