LAUNDY PUBS EMBRACE GARLO’S PIE FAMILY

Aussie pub family man Arthur Laundy has teamed up with Sean Garlick and his family’s Garlo’s Pies business to put the tasty pastries in LHG pubs.

“Very nice people,” Laundy relayed to PubTIC. “I first met Sean through [Rabbitohs star] Luke Burgess and I’ve gotten to know them recently.

“I called Sean and said we’d like to put them in around the place, to give to customers in the evening. They love ‘em.”

Garlo’s Pies was started by former South Sydney Rabbitohs and Easts Rooster star Sean “Garlo“ Garlick back in 2001, in a small store at Maroubra Junction. Garlo has grown the business to employ eight family members, across all aspects of operation. Today the proud family business sells pies through every Coles in NSW and Queensland, most IGAs, on a number of major airlines, and exports to half a dozen countries.

The business is outgrowing its purpose-built production facility in St Peters it expanded into just a few years ago, citing an upcoming new, larger state-of-the-art baking operation in Kingsgrove, and opening its second outlet in the game-changing American market of Los Angeles in September.

Laundy has installed Garlo’s pies in key pubs, such as his home base, the Twin Willows Hotel, ahead of a further rollout. They are stored in branded pie warmers, which hold up to 80 pies and are on loan to venues while selling the pies.

“I enjoy hearing family success stories, and they are certainly one to be praised,” said Laundy.

Garlo echoed the sentiment, and the pub king’s reputation for trusted relations.

“We’re very excited to be involved with the Laundy Hotel Group, not just because of their outstanding business savvy and longstanding legacy but also their status as an established family business with values in alignment to ours,” said Garlick.
