The massive UEFA Champions League Final took place recently in Spain, and to celebrate, Heineken invited key Australian clients to a weekend party in Ibiza.
Saturday, 28 May saw the culmination of the 61st Champions League for the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) play out in Madrid, with two teams from that city fighting for the title. Real Madrid triumphed over Atlético Madrid 5-3 in a penalty shootout, after the game ended extra time tied at 1-1.
Courtesy of Heineken, 500 guests – clients, key influencers and prize-winners from around the world – watched the game in the exclusive and well-adorned Nikki Beach hotel. A group of Australians were flown to the party, chaperoned by Heineken brand manager, Candice Bush.
The end of the game signalled the official beginning of the Ibiza party season, and attendees indulged in typically overt Ibiza activities, such as outdoor raves and water-sports.
On Sunday the official Pacha opening party season event took place, featuring the ‘Rising Star DJ’ winner, from Merivale’s Pacha instalment in ivy, Demi Bryant.
Merivale’s Rebecca Gibbs represented the group at the weekend, and told PubTIC “it was a phenomenal few days”.
Also in attendance was Rohan Topley, of Brisbane’s Fox Hotel and recently Darling & Co. He suggested Lion was channelling finance guru Warren Buffett with its treatment of the guests.
“Lion and Heineken showed us the best of the European summer and Ibiza – matching their premium beer with a trip that exceeded all others.”
