AVC’S STRATEGIC PLAY ON THE SKI SLOPES

Australian Venue Co. continues its expansion into domestic tourism hubs with acquisition of the Hotham Hotel in Mount Hotham

Previously known as Swindlers Bar, the venue is the heartbeat of the Hotham ski fields and a staple for food and beverage on the slopes.

It offers skiers a cosy retreat for breakfast, lunch and evenings, serving up pub classics as well as house specials, such as Japanese Karage Chicken Burger and Red Snapper Tacos.

There is a happy hour daily, a well-patronised Wednesday darts competition drawing 42 local teams, and regular live music nights.

AVC boasts a portfolio of more than 170 operations across Australia and New Zealand, all leaseholds. It achieves a unique and individual flavour to each through local leadership and control.

The Hotham is AVC’s second investment in regional Victoria in as many months, and in line with its philosophy on the altered trends being seen in travel.

“We are very interested in assets that have a strong exposure to domestic tourism, and proud to be able to take over the operations of such an important venue on the Mount Hotham ski fields,” says Paul Waterson, Australian Venue Co CEO.

AVC flag typical intentions for “working with the Hotham Hotel team” and recognise the significance of acquisitions in strategic regions for continued expansion.

“Victoria is a significant market for Australian Venue Co, and while the majority of our venues are currently in metro areas, we will continue to invest in tourist-friendly locations outside the CBD in addition to our metro pubs; they are the logical progression as we grow.”
