Australian Venue Co has announced it has begun a major $1.65 million renovation of the former Spirit Hotels landmark, the Cleveland Sands Hotel, on Brisbane’s coast.
The Cleveland Sands has been a popular part of the suburban Cleveland community since it opened in 1930.
The renovations are set to welcome “a vibrant and inviting space” courtesy of a new courtyard and beer garden for up to 200 people.
Also getting some love will be the Sports Bar, to be expanded beyond its TAB facilities and big screens playing live sport, creating an entertainment hub for up to 200 people, including a band stage for hosting touring acts.
“The renovation at Cleveland Sands Hotel is about creating a destination for the local community to get together,” says AVC COO Craig Ellison.
“The new sports bar and beer garden will be enjoyed all year round, and we’re bringing a cracking line up of major touring acts to the pub, to create a live and local entertainment experience alongside food, beverage and sport.
“We’ll be able to offer our locals a complete day or night out under one roof.”
Other areas of the pub, such as the existing bistro and the gaming room, will operate as usual while renovations are underway.
The complete, expanded Cleveland Sands Hotel is slated to re-open during winter.
