Lion today released its 2025 Force for Good Report, detailing its renewed focus on core markets and advancement in its ESG objectives, and the achievement of a coveted B Corp Certification.
The Report highlights what the drinks giant says has been a “milestone year” and CEO Anubha Sahasrabuddhe believes the achievements reflect the company’s long-held beliefs.
“Becoming a Certified B Corporation is a defining moment for Lion,” he says.
“It recognises the breadth and depth of our sustainability credentials against an independent global standard and reinforces a belief we have held for many years: that success should be measured not only by financial performance, but by the positive impact we create alongside our partners.”
The Certified B Corporation trademark is for companies accredited for their social impact by private, global non-profit organization B Lab. Candidates must achieve a benchmark score on its social and environmental performance, integrate B Corp commitments into governing documents, and pay an annual fee based on sales.
Lion continues to streamline and bolster its business through a focus on the core markets of Australia and New Zealand.
The big brewer is also positioning itself for the next era of sustainable growth, aiming to become “an unrivalled Force for Growth and a Force for Good” by building on its strengths of fostering a culture of performance and belonging, maintaining powerhouse brands, and what Sahasrabuddhe describes as “a deep commitment to creating positive impact”.

The 2025 Force for Good Report shows the company’s progress in its sustainability agenda, including:
- Achieving B Corp Certification
- Reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 62.5 per cent compared to 2019
- The first electric boiler at Speight’s Brewery in Dunedin
- Reaching 70.2 per cent recycled content in packaging
- Providing over 4,300 employee volunteering hours across Australia and New Zealand
The company says it remains committed to transparency in its achievements and challenges; the report outlines ongoing efforts to improve water efficiency, advance reconciliation, strengthen responsible sourcing practices and increase diversity in leadership.
“B Corp certification provides a stronger framework for continuous improvement and challenges us to keep raising the bar,” continues Sahasrabuddhe.
“What matters most is that we continue to move forward with honesty and intent.”
