A new licensed karaoke bar in Bankstown has been closed by ILGA following licensing inspectors detecting gross violations including serious intoxication and selling whole bottles of spirits.
Replay Karaoke Lounge opened earlier this year, touted as having “chic, urban interiors and fully stocked bar”.
Undercover Liquor & Gaming NSW inspectors attended the venue last Friday (28 April) and found both shots and full bottles of spirits being served, in breach of the venue’s licence. Further, they noted the venue operating outside its prescribed trading hours, and a severely intoxicated female, unable to stand without assistance and vomiting into a bucket provided by staff.
L&G NSW this week applied to The NSW Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) for a short-term closure order. The ILGA board has considered the matter, and ordered Replay to close from 5pm today (5 May) until 5pm Monday, 8 May.
L&G director of Compliance Operations, Sean Goodchild, said the case should serve as a warning to rogue operators across NSW.
“Liquor licensees who blatantly flout their licence conditions and responsible service of alcohol jeopardise the safety of their patrons and the community.
“Most venues do adhere to their liquor licence conditions, but this case shows that those who choose to ignore their licence conditions can expect to face regulatory action.”
