MEN ARRESTED OVER PUB ROBBERY AND STABBING

Three men have been arrested and charged in relation to an alleged robbery and attempted murder after of a man at the Sundowner Hotel in Caboolture.

According to detectives, around 10:30pm on Saturday 9 May three people accosted a 31-year-old in the gaming room of the hotel and stolen money from him.

The man is said to have confronted the group in the car park, where he was allegedly assaulted with a bottle and stabbed in the neck.

Emergency services were summoned, but it’s understood the trio escaped on foot before police arrived.

Officers attended to the wounded man before he was transported in a life-threatening condition from the pub, near the Sunshine Coast, to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Establishing a crime scene and investigations, detectives swiftly identified suspects and on Sunday evening a 20-year-old man from Kallangur was located and arrested on a property in Bray Park. He was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and armed robbery, and is scheduled to appear before Caboolture Magistrates Court.

Officers subsequently attended an address in Clontarf around 11pm on Tuesday, whereupon a 20-year-old man from Redcliffe sought for questioning fled the scene, He was tracked down by Moreton Dog Squad and arrested, similarly charged with attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and armed robbery and remanded to face Caboolture Magistrates Court.

Separately, detectives in Rockhampton located and arrested another Clontarf man, aged 22, in Wandal, almost 600 kilometres north of Caboolture. He was charged with armed robbery and is due to face Rockhampton Magistrates Court.

The Sundowner Hotel Motel declined to comment on the incident.

It has been reported the victim of the offence is now in a stable condition.
