TUMBY PUB HITS THE MARKET

The character-laden Tumby Pub in the NSW northern rivers is being sold by private owners, as they exit the game.

Located on the banks of the Tweed River, between Coolangatta and Byron Bay, and enjoying view of Mt Warning, the Tumbulgum Tavern – known to the locals as the ‘Tumby Pub’ – is a must-see attraction in the Tweed Valley.

Built 1887, the two-storey suburban local is the only hotel in town. It provides public bar, bistro and commercial kitchen, function rooms, outdoor kids’ play area, onsite parking and self-contained staff accommodation.

It also holds gaming entitlements for 10 machines and has an unused bottleshop, with potential for conversion into a drive-through, plus potential for future guest accommodation.

The business reportedly generates “exceptional revenue” despite very little marketing, and presents opportunity to increase trade through expansion and modernisation.

It has been the domain of a private family that has owned it for nearly a decade, and is the last steed in the stable, since other properties have been divested.

Health and circumstances have prompted the sale and the vendors suggest the time has come to “move on”.

A campaign is being run by Ray White Burleigh Group’s Ryan Langham and Nathan Huxham, with price on application.

The freehold going concern is being marketed through an Expressions of Interest campaign, closing Thursday, 4 April.

“This opportunity would suit a syndicate or owner-occupier that wants an iconic location within an hour of the Gold Coast and Byron Bay,” says Langham.

“Tumby Pub is a real destination venue, with history.”
