Years in the making, the recreated Kirra Beach Hotel in Coolangatta will reopen this month as the cornerstone in the massive $380 million Kirra Point Precinct.
The Gold Coast beachfront pub closed early 2021, set to become integral to the three-tower Kirra Point project.
As the finishing touches are put on the new residential high-rises by developer KTQ Group, after nearly three years of construction, the Hotel will reopen as centrepiece of stage one.
Spanning 1,300sqm, it will provide a sports bar, bistro, beer garden and boutique bottleshop.
In December trading will be expanded with the opening of the Kirra Beach House, another 1,200sqm of beachfront floorspace for dining, drinking and events, said to offer an elevated, unobstructed panoramic ocean view from every vantage point in the venue.
Established in 1956, the pub has always promoted itself as a place to relax and get on a “first name basis with our staff” and elements of its history have been incorporated into the new design.
Kirra Beach Hotel will be operated by SITE Hospitality, led by Dave Galvin, known for work in the region at Broadbeach’s Kōst, and Southport’s Mozza Mozza. Leading the team on the ground will be licensee Greg ‘Hodgy’ Hodge. PubTIC was unable to make contact prior to publication.
The multi-tower development has been 11 years in the making, conceptualised by Peggy Flannery, owner of KTQ.
Ealy 2024 the first tower, which is above the pub, is set to open and see the first residents move into 116 new units.
A suite of units will be also offered to market next year as hotel unit accommodation.
