The licensee of Prahran’s Love Machine has reportedly been fined over $10k for breaches, mostly regarding coronavirus restrictions, less than 10 days before Victoria further eases its patronage limits for pubs.
Victoria police raided the venue on 13 June, finding a supposedly ‘live-streamed’ event where nearly 50 people were physically present.
The directors of the licensing company are understood to have been hit with a $9,913 fine for failing to comply with the health directives, and another $991 for breaching liquor licence conditions.
Detectives have requested CCTV footage from cameras within the venue.
The investigation comes just 14 months after a drive-by shooting outside the club that resulted in the deaths of two people.
Victoria is scheduled to further ease COVID-19 restrictions from Monday (22 June), meaning up to 50 people will be legally allowed to attend pubs and nightclubs, if the rule is maintained on four-square-metres per person.
But a spate of new cases this week, including some seemingly community-acquired, could mean selected locations or areas are precluded from enjoying the eased conditions a little longer.
