ZELLER SHAKING UP PAYMENTS IN PUBS

Australian fintech company Zeller is moving into pubs, promising to empower publicans with an improved EFTPOS solution.

Based in the notion of ‘smarter payments’ Zeller provides key differences for merchants versus typical bank-issued payment solutions.

It offers secure, more affordable EFTPOS, no monthly terminal rental, and no lock-in contracts – with 99.99 per cent uptime.

Positive merchant feedback includes:

  • Durable construction: the Zeller EFTPOS terminal can handle everyday damage and spills, which happen in a busy pub environment, to the extent a glass of water poured on the terminal causes no problem
  • Smarter surcharging: transaction fees can be passed on to patrons with the toggle of a switch; pass on the entire fee, a percentage or none – reducing costs given the volume of card payments being processed
  • User-friendly tech: the terminal is simple to use, meaning staff can be quickly trained, and merchants can customise employee permissions to protect financials
  • Local support: Zeller’s Australian-based support team are available by phone, email and SMS, 7 days a week

“Using Zeller in both of our pubs has streamlined processes for patrons as well as staff,” offers Brad Olsson, managing partner at the Ascot Vale Hotel.

“We’ve been really impressed with the ongoing support from the local team, who have assisted us in our transition to Zeller.”

Zeller is an Australian ‘neobank’ for small-to-medium businesses that recently completed its second round capital raise. Since launching in May 2021, more than 16k Australian businesses have adopted the system, to accept card payments, manage finances, and pay recipients fast.

The company has now announced a new partnership with AHA (Vic), and reports signing on 30 pubs in the past couple of months. It is currently offering a $50 cash bonus to new vendors.

“Zeller values partnering with a group that has such deep industry knowledge and expertise that will assist us in developing more products and features that meet the needs of publicans around Australia,” says Zeller’s Chris Rich.
