Furthering the ongoing market for new experiences in whisky for newcomers to the category, Diageo is launching in Australia The Singleton 12-year-old with “no rulebook”.
Coming Down Under from Dufftown Distillery in Speyside, The Singleton 12-year-old is a single malt with an accessible taste profile targeted toward a new generation of whisky drinkers.
It offers simplified tasting notes to demystify the whisky jargon, replacing expert expressions with the likes of ‘luscious nectar’, ‘sublimely smooth’ and ‘fruity decadence’, and reportedly shakes off “the old world image of leather armchairs” to redefine the single-malt category.
“We talk about The Singleton as a ‘CAN’ whisky, meaning the consumer CAN have it any way they like it,” says Diageo Australia marketing manager for whisky, Melissa Maidment.
“There is no rulebook, and the Plus Two serve creates an easy way for those new to the category to experiment.”
The Australian launch sees overhaul of the brand’s look and feel, now featuring a modern teal design, and the new Diageo-recommended serve the ‘Plus Two’ – combining 50ml of The Singleton with 50ml of sparkling and 50ml of still liquids.
