SIGNATURE MOVE INTO DARLING HARBOUR BREWPUB

Melbourne-based pub group Signature Hospitality has burst into Sydney with purchase of All Hands brewpub in Darling Harbour from Red Rock Leisure.

The site at 22 The Promenade was formerly the King St Brewhouse, built to showcase John Singleton’s Bluetongue Lager, and operated for years by Graeme Thompson.

In 2017 Red Rock took on the waterside premise, executing an extensive makeover and upgrading the pub’s micro-brewery to 12 hectolitres, rebranding the venue to All Hands Brewing House.

Signature Hospitality (SH) holds the keys to ten Victorian venues under The Sporting Globe banner, along with a series of US franchise TGI Fridays, including two in NSW, and a bar-restaurant in Brisbane.

The Group has been planning a move into Sydney for over a year, and determined the tourism-led location in Darling Harbour and exposure to craft beer suited their American-style persona.

“It’s our first time owning a microbrewery, and we couldn’t be happier to acquire this one in such an iconic location overlooking Darling Harbour,” offered SH CEO James Sinclair.

“The brewing facility is exceptional and produces award-winning beer, led by head brewer Sam Clayman, who will continue to run the operation.

“It is an impressive feature of the venue and we aim to support and grow its operation.”

Last year All Hands took both State Champion Independent Brewer (NSW) and the Inaugural Champion Australian Independent Brew Pub.

SH cites no plans for a change of name, and would not confirm sale price, but will invest into enhancing the alfresco and dining areas, and optimising display of the handsome microbrewery.
