Mitchell Waugh has announced a shake-up of the Public House portfolio, making moves in the eastern suburbs and moving out of Mosman.
Closely following the big-budget renovation and reopening of Glebe’s Toxteth last month, Public House Management Group (PHMG) has begun a similarly comprehensive makeover of its flagship Woollahra Hotel, scheduled for unveiling in early 2019.
Keeping it local, the nearby Royal Paddington will similarly undergo refurbishment in the second half of next year.
Separately, the three-year management deal PHMG has had to operate and develop The Buena in Mosman, in conjunction with owners and Waugh family friends the Fallon family, has recently concluded.
Having met the mandate to bring the Fallons into the fold, PHMG CEO and pub industry veteran Mitchell Waugh has decided not to extend the contract.
“We are tremendously proud of what we have achieved in re-establishing The Buena as the heart of the community and fulfilling our brief to introduce the Fallon family to the hospitality industry,” says Waugh.
“Next, the Woollahra Hotel will see the introduction of a new hospitality concept. Our Royal loyalists in Paddington can also look forward to some upgrades to the Elephant Bar and Rooftop.
“As always, PHMG will continue to look for investments and opportunities whilst ensuring we engage and give back to the communities in which we currently operate.”
PHMG introduced Bistro Moncur at The Buena in 2016. This too will not be continued, but an all-new dining concept will reportedly be announced in coming weeks.
