Great Southern Nights is tuning up to deliver 1,000 COVID-safe performances and tens of thousands of patrons to venues across Sydney and regional NSW in November, Australian Music Month.
Great Southern Nights (GSN) is an initiative from the NSW Government, delivered by Destination NSW in partnership with the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).
Its purpose is to “stimulate the revival of the live music and entertainment sectors” in the recovery phase of COVID-19.
The O’Hara group’s Collector Hotel in Parramatta is hosting the band Lil Suite throughout the month. (details below)
Lil Suite is a spin-off band from Suite Az, famous for its infectious energy and powerful vocals.
“We couldn’t think of a better band to bring the energy back to the Collector Hotel after having to cancel our live music through the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Jamieson Howell, manager at the Collector.
“The government needs to be congratulated for supporting this initiative to bring live music back into venues.
“Live music has so many positive effects on venues, including creating a really fun atmosphere, giving some income to musicians who have been struggling through the COVID closures, and creating more hours for our team and our security. This is going to be great in so many ways!”
The Potts Point Hotel, in the new-look Kings Cross precinct, is also hosting bands as part of GSN, each Friday in November. (details below)
Over 300 venues around wider Sydney and more than 130 NSW towns will be part of the month-long line-up.
“NSW will come alive with great Australian music in November with gigs taking place in many of the state’s greatest music venues, pubs, bars, bowling clubs and wineries,” says Stuart Ayres, Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney.
