HURLEYS LOOK TO $60m HOTEL PANORAMA

The Hurley Hotel Group (HHG) has begun construction on Hotel Panorama, on Adelaide’s Goodwood Road.

HHG is a South Australian family-owned business with over four decades’ experience, currently operating ten hotels along with Hurley Cellars.

Cox Architecture, a local company whose portfolio has also included the redevelopment of Her Majesty’s Theatre, Adelaide Botanic High School and the Adelaide Oval Hotel, was appointed as designers.

Another South Australian company, Sarah Constructions, with a portfolio that includes the Hurley’s Marion Hotel and d’Arenberg’s The Cube, was awarded the job of construction.

With a projected cost of $60 million, the plans for the five-storey build aim to offer “a total hospitality experience”, with multiple function spaces, a rooftop bar, an outside area complete with a three-metre outdoor screen, gaming room and sports bar, and café bar and restaurant.

Accommodation is also included in the build, offering 77 rooms including serviced apartments, one- and two-bedroom rooms and a honeymoon suite.

The accommodation is expected to service visitors to Flinders University, the Flinders Hospital and other health services, the South Australian Leisure and Aquatic Centre and other entertainment and services.

Hotel Panorama will live up to its name with views of the ocean, city and Adelaide Hills.

As a full-service hotel, the build will be unique to Adelaide’s suburbs.

HHG is excited for the area’s future, with spokesperson Anna Hurley stating, “The Hotel Panorama represents the largest investment in the history of our family business”.

As locals, the group was saddened by the closure of its Tonsley Hotel, and aimed to keep servicing local customers after the build.

“We have paid homage in the design to the history of the area with a mid-century design while also maintaining elements from the Tonsley Hotel such as the Chrysler memorabilia,” said Hurley.

The project, which will create 100 jobs during construction and an estimated 160 hospitality jobs after the build, is expected to be completed early 2026.
