Adelaide’s historic Maylands Hotel has gone into receivership, with specifics yet to be announced.
Receivers Ferrier Hodgson have been appointed to manage the freehold going concern sale of the property on behalf of owner Ray Aoukar.
The classic two-storey pub, with full frontal balcony, was built in the 1880s around the time of the city’s tram network. Located on Phillis Street, Maylands, it is just a kilometre from the Adelaide CBD and a popular watering hole.
Speaking to PubTIC, a representative of Ferrier Hodgson could not yet detail why the pub has run into strife, but confirmed that it would be trading ‘business as usual’.
The hotel will reportedly go on the market soon, which could follow a minor touch-up to help facilitate the sale.
“It’s an asset that will be sold and it’s an opportunity for a new operator to take care of a slice of history,” Ferrier Hodgson partner David Kidman told the East Torrens Messenger.
