Recognising changing consumer demands, global drinks giant Diageo has released a low-ABV, low-calorie drink born for contemporary socialising.
Smirnoff Infusions is based in the acclaimed vodka, with the addition of natural botanicals. It is 20 per cent ABV, and intended to be mixed with soda water.
While offering a flavour profile akin to that found accompanying a cocktail made with gin – the original flavoured vodka – only sans juniper, Infusions also offers a drink with less than 40 calories, making it less than half the calories of a standard glass of white wine.
The Infusions range is launched in two flavours: Cucumber Lime & Mint, and Passionfruit & Lime.
Its official launch, in time for Spring, heralds a high-profile collaboration with the Laundy-Short partnership at their acclaimed Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel. The Smirnoff Infusions bar kicked off 18 September, and through to 27 October will serve cocktails pitched at daytime socialising.
The pop-up is adorned in overgrown foliage and fresh fruit, to complement the drink and its botanical inspirations. Each Sunday will also woo guests to a relaxing line-up of acoustic acts.
“Over the past two years we’ve seen an incredible demand for a lighter drink that doesn’t scrimp on flavour or taste,” reports Diageo marketing manager Linda Wellington.
Enjoying an enviable global perspective, Diageo proffers its innovation and drive can fulfil the demands of the changing alcohol landscape in Australia.
“The lighter and more low-calorie offering is a simple way for Australians to enjoy a more interesting drink. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a balanced lifestyle or daytime occasion,” suggests Wellington.
“We can’t wait for people to try it.”
The 700ml bottle of Smirnoff Infusions carries RRP of $33.
