COURT TRIES ICE-USING HOTEL THUGS

Rockhampton District Court last week tried the case of two ice users that perpetrated a violent, “gratuitous” robbery at the Brunswick Hotel.

Dylan Warcon and Travis Anderson were charged with robbery in company and with personal violence after the assaulted another patron in the hotel in July last year – dragging him out, bashing him, taking his car keys and searching it for money or drugs.

Gang Of Young Men Taking Drugs IndoorsBoth men were on bail at the time, and have a history of drug use and violence. Warcon was also charged with resisting police, after attempting to avoid arrest over the incident.

Rockhampton’s Morning Bulletin reported Judge Terry Martin as describing the incident as “a painful and frightening episode” for the victim, and undoubtedly for staff and patrons in the vicinity.

Defence solicitors for both men relayed troubled childhoods plagued with increasing drug use and problems with authority.

The bold nature of the assault brought to light the seriousness of users of ‘ice’ (crystal methamphetamine) and their unpredictable, often violent behaviour.

The Brunswick Hotel declined to comment.

The Rockhampton District Court is yet to release the verdict by Judge Martin.
