CBH POSTS ANOTHER WIN ON GOLF DAY

Chris Cheung’s Coogee Bay Hotel has bettered last year’s new record, raising more than a quarter-million dollars for the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick.

The famous beachside pub has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the community, beginning with ‘POWCH DAY’ back in 1993, where $1 from every schooner sale was donated to the Prince of Wales Children’s Hospital.

The philanthropic journey continued, blossoming into the annual Coogee Bay Hotel (CBH) Charity Golf Day at Bonnie Doon Golf Club.

On Thursday, 19 October guests and sponsors gathered for the latest Charity Golf Day of greens and generosity, raising an astounding $267k for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation at Randwick.

Funds donated are earmarked to provide essential support to the Foundation, continuing its mission to provide world-class care to young patients and their families.

CBH also donates 100 rooms in its boutique hotel each year for sick children and their families without accommodation.

2023’s cache represents the highest amount raised since the inception of the golf day, surpassing the record-breaking $252k raised at the 25th annual event, in October 2022.

This now brings the total raised for the Children’s Hospital to more than $3.86 million, facilitating impacts such as the creation of short-stay surgical wards, advancement of clinical wings, bolstering of research programs and more.

After the round of golf, the crowd assembles for the traditional lunch and sponsor auction segment, this year featuring guest speaker Kristina Keneally, CEO of the Foundation, previously the first female Premier of New South Wales, in the office from 2009 to 2011.

CBH GM David Gregory says “nurturing and uplifting our community” is a source of immense pride for C!nc and the Hotel, and the Hospital, just two kilometres away, fits perfectly with this.

“We’re pleased we could raise so much money for our neighbours at Sydney Children’s Hospital and it’s gratifying to witness the generosity of our community to go toward tangible support for such a worthy cause.”

Chris Cheung says it was another “amazing day” raising funds to help the youngest patients.

“A huge thank you to all the sponsors of this day, especially CUB and Command 51 being our platinum sponsors.”
