The last of the Boutique Pub Co has gone, with SV Partners appointed as liquidator for the failed operation and closed premises.
Queensland publican Mic Uebergang oversaw Boutique Pub Co, operating The Florence Public House in Toowoomba, which made something of a splash when it opened in 2018.
The Hotel was subsequently closed in August 2019, reportedly for a “temporary” refresh. It has not traded again since.
One month earlier, in July, the venue was hit with a $40k fine after OLGR inspectors determined nearly $200k of booze had been sold illegally, as The Florence was without a liquor licence.
The same fate befell Oxford Gardens in Brisbane, operated by Uebergang’s other vehicle, Thirsty Occasions group, which was found to have sold over $350k of liquor without a licence, and fined $50k.
Thirsty Occasions also held the keys at Dalgety Public House, in the old wool store building in Teneriffe, but this was also shut on a ‘temporary’ basis mid-2019 and never traded again under those operators. It has since reopened under new ownership.
Later in 2019 a supplier won court orders to wind up Thirsty Occasions, although creditors chasing over $2 million in debts were reportedly left unpaid.
Uebergang has denied any improper trading by the group.
Last week Uebergang and business partner Karl Voll terminated Boutique Pub Co.
