BAROOGA SALE BODES REGIONAL APPETITE

The Barooga Hotel in the popular holiday resort town of Barooga has been sold to the Ratcliffs, continuing the market strength for quality regional operations.

Stephen and Elizabeth Ratcliff are the proud new owners of the sole hotel in Barooga, a two-storey corner pub offering a public bar and thriving bistro, with pizzas on Friday and Saturday evenings, and a gaming lounge with ten EGMs.

The outgoing owners have held the title for five years, doing significant additions and fostering a focus on private functions. In 2015 they added the outdoor Deck Bar and a second kid-friendly outdoor area dubbed Sailz, as well as Foxtel Sport in the main bar and Keno in all areas. In late 2017 they invested in a brand-new courtesy bus.

Barooga is a 2.5-hour drive north of Melbourne, on the banks of the Murray River close to Thompson’s Beach – Australia’s largest inland beach. The town is a magnet for tourists and the pub’s quality dining experience and customer service have earned it a top ranking on Tripadvisor.

The sales literature cited robust financials netting average weekly revenue over $46,000.

The campaign and subsequent transaction to the Ratcliffs was conducted by Manenti Quinlan & Associates’ Leonard Bongiovanni in conjunction with Doug May from Albury.

“With the limited stock currently available in the marketplace, the sale demonstrates the appetite of purchasers to acquire quality hotels in regional areas,” notes Bongiovanni.
