AUSTRALIA’S CAPITALS FARE WELL ON GLOBAL PUB SCALE

Deutsche Bank has released its fifth annual ‘Mapping the World’s Prices’ report, showing Melbourne and Sydney are right in the middle for the cost of a beer and meal at a pub.

The report cites that Europe is “an expensive place” for many things, with Swiss and Scandinavian cities the most expensive in the world.

But Sydney also proves to be a wallet-buster, particularly on the ‘Sin Index’ and the cost of a weekend getaway, where it came in second globally, behind only Zurich.

However, when it comes to the price of a beer or dinner for two at the pub both Australia’s big cities fared quite well, with Melbourne topping its northern neighbour on both fronts.
