WINTER EXPERIENCES BOOST PUB APPEAL

As hospitality venues continue to compete for guest attention, creating reasons for customers to stay longer and return more often has become just as important as the food and beverage offering itself.

Rather than relying solely on traditional pub trade, many venues are embracing seasonal activations that combine dining, entertainment and community events to drive visitation.

Lewis Land Group’s Camden Valley Inn is one venue putting this strategy into action with a six-week winter program designed to position the regional destination as more than just a place to eat and drink.

Running from 22 June to 31 July, the activation features a calendar of family-friendly experiences, live entertainment and ticketed events aimed at attracting both locals and day-trippers.

Highlights include farmers markets, live music, school holiday activities and a Country Weekend from 10–12 July, complete with live music, line dancing, a hat-burning pop-up, family entertainment and country-inspired experiences.

The program reflects a broader shift across the hospitality industry, with regional pubs increasingly evolving into community hubs that deliver a mix of food, entertainment and local experiences.

Recent research also shows the food and drink sector remains the largest driver of domestic day-trip tourism in Australia, creating opportunities for destination venues to attract visitors looking to escape the city and explore regional hospitality offerings.

Alongside its entertainment program, Camden Valley Inn is running a range of seasonal dining promotions throughout winter, including Kids Eat Free from 5pm every Monday; Wing Wednesday specials, Friday Happy Hour and a selection of seasonal menu offerings.

The school holiday calendar also promises a range of free family activities, including an inflatable obstacle course, pony rides, Highland cow visits, planting workshops and free caricature artists every Thursday throughout July.

Additional ticketed events across the program include a Farmers Market, Paint & Sip, End of Term Teachers Happy Hour and a Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Masterclass.

Located less than an hour from the Sydney CBD, Camden Valley Inn sits across five acres of countryside and features a bistro, pizzeria, multiple bars, beer garden, children’s playground and farm animals, making it a popular destination for families and visitors seeking a regional day-trip experience.

Kayla Seeney, General Manager, said guests are now looking for experiences rather than just somewhere to eat.

“By combining hospitality with entertainment, community events and local partnerships, we’re creating reasons for people to stay longer, return more often and engage with the venue in different ways.”
