GOLD FM LAUNCHES ‘SAVE OUR PUB’

Across Australia, local pubs continue to play a vital role in bringing communities together.

From country towns to city suburbs, they’re the places where stories are shared, friendships are formed and milestones are celebrated.

As these venues navigate changing habits and rising costs, there’s growing recognition of the important role they play in Australian life and the need to support them for future generations.

With pubs continuing to serve as the heart of communities across the country, radio presented Christian O’Connell is encouraging Australians to show some love for the venues that have become part of their lives through the launch of ‘Save Our Pub’, a new national initiative from The Christian O’Connell Show on the GOLD Network.

The campaign will give listeners the chance to champion the pubs that matter most to them by sharing the stories behind the local venues that have hosted celebrations, supported communities and created lasting memories over the years.

As part of the initiative, Christian O’Connell and the GOLD Network will travel beyond the bar and into the stories that make these venues special, highlighting pub owners, staff, regulars and local communities across Australia.

To help support them, five nominated pubs will each receive a $5k contribution, thanks to XXXX.

Known for celebrating everyday Australians and authentic storytelling, Christian O’Connell said pubs continue to hold a unique place in Australian culture.

“The local pub isn’t just that building on the corner.

“It’s where you go and celebrate good news. It’s where you get around your mate when they’ve had bad news. It’s where you go for no good reason and have some of your favourite times with your mates.

“That’s why we’re launching Save Our Pub – to get people talking about their local again, to support the pubs that bring communities together, and hopefully even get people back through the doors this weekend,” he continued.

Listeners can now nominate their local pub and submit its story via the GOLD website.

The show is aired from 6-9am weekdays on GOLD101.7 in Sydney, GOLD104.3 in Melbourne, GOLD DAB+ in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane and via the free iHeart app, as well as many regional stations.

“These places matter, and they’re worth saving,” O’Connell says.
