Fraser Coast favourite the Bayswater Bar & Grill in Hervey Bay has been sold to national operator Australian Venue Co, bringing the buzz to one of Queensland’s less frequently transacted hot spots.
Positioned right on the water, the BB&G is one of Hervey Bay’s go-to dining destinations.
Hugely popular with locals and tourists alike, it provides strong food and beverage offerings, counting a bistro serving an à la carte menu and a pizza and gelato bar, as well as a gaming room with 31 machines, TAB and Keno, and flexible spaces for events and functions.

Guests can enjoy ice-cold beers, wine or cocktails overlooking Urangan Beach and the mighty Pacific.
“We’re excited to be part of the next chapter of Hervey Bay’s Bayswater Bar & Grill,” says AVC CEO Paul Waterson.
“It’s a great venue with something for everyone, from families to sports fans, and its popularity amongst locals is a testament to the team behind it.”
AVC operates over 250 pubs across all Australian states plus New Zealand, and has established its methodology, not afraid to invest capital to optimise the performance of venues.
“We have a proven track record of running pubs in popular holiday destinations and we’re looking forward to bringing our experience to the Fraser Coast and becoming part of the community,” adds Waterson.
The freehold going concern of the BB&G was sold by private owners through JLL Hotels’ Christian Tsalikis, via an off-market campaign.
Tsalikis notes this sale marks “an exciting time” for the Hervey Bay landscape, which hasn’t seen the level of transactional activity in pubs as some coastal Queensland towns.
While details of the transaction were not disclosed, it’s understood that Charter Hall again partnered with AVC on the acquisition, picking up the strata freehold.
