Justice has been served on a Gladstone man who assaulted the Central Lane Hotel’s manager in 2024.
At 3:30am one September morning, former truck driver Jordan Dallas King, 23, entered the hotel’s gaming area and demanded to be served a drink.
The manager refused him service and continued counting the night’s takings.
King repeated his request, with the manager again refusing service.
King then said, “That’s fair enough. That’s a lot of cash, be careful, someone might take that from you. Do you want to shoot up some gear because you look like you’re on it?”
The manager then asked that King leave the hotel.
Instead, King reached over the counter, painfully grabbing and pulling at the manager’s arm.
As nearby patrons removed him from the venue, King shouted, “I’ll knock you out you little prick, I’ll kill you.”
This week, King pled guilty to common assault at Gladstone Magistrates Court.
Bianca Wieland, solicitor for King, said he had been drinking for several days following the news of his mother’s cancer diagnosis, and was intoxicated at the time of the assault.
King, who had no criminal history, was fined $800 no conviction was recorded.
In 2016 the pub saw an even worse instance of employee assault, as two men perpetrated a violent robbery, entering using an axe and striking two female staff.
