PUB’S HISTORY KEPT ALIVE WITH THEATRE RENOVATION

Long-time Perth favourite, the Guildford Hotel, raised the curtain at the re-opening of its Vaudeville Hall this month.

A $2.8 million renovation extended the hotel’s indoors/outdoors facilities, transforming adjoining Vaudeville Hall (‘The Hall’) into a casual beer hall and dining space.

The redesigned theatre was matched with a new family-accessible beer garden and kids’ play area, along with an outdoor kitchen.

The Hall was originally built in 1898 by George Hiscox, Guildford Hotel’s first licensee and publican, as a community theatre.

Now, nearly 130 years later, the pub and hall are still considered a destination venue.

While the entertainment focus might have changed, the charm has not been lost and its heritage has not been forgotten.

The pub has also paid close attention to its revamped menu.

Under the guidance of head chef Alex Baglin, the new outdoor barbecue kitchen, which features a meat smoker, will offer an over-the-coals charcoal grill menu, featuring two-hour bottomless BBQ dinners, with wines and beers alongside a select barbecue menu.

Locals are invited to celebrate the next phase in The Hall’s history over the first weekend in August, with live music, kids’ entertainment, a curated pit-master class and more.

Then it’s back to doing what The Guildford Hotel does best – quiz nights, monthly comedy, live music and family days. Sports fans are also catered for, with a pool table and multiple large screens for the big games.

AVC’s Operations Manager for the Perth icon, Katie Reeves, says they’re excited about the change.

“Guildford Hotel has been a staple amongst our community for years! Being able to reconnect the two buildings with the history they both hold is really exciting. We’re looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors through the doors to check out and enjoy The Vaudeville over the coming weeks and into the future,” she said.
