AUBURN GROWS IN THE HEART OF HAWTHORN

After more than a century serving the Hawthorn community and a $4.3 million transformation, AVC has fully reopened the Auburn Hotel, ushering in more trading space and addition of new attraction ‘The Pavilion’.

The site neighbouring the Hotel has previously been a horse stables and an automotive garage. It is now a contemporary atrium-style dining and drinking area that aims to balance the history of the location with modern finishes. The Pavilion counts retractable roof, striking fireplace centrepiece and a state-of the-art pizza oven.

Work has also created an extended deck, providing a seamless indoor and outdoor dining area into the adjoining beer garden and kids’ play area.

Sport lovers are catered for courtesy of ample big-screen TVs in both the beer garden and The Pavilion.

The overhaul comes with a refreshed menu, curated by executive chef Tony Moss, ranging share dishes and a selection of woodfired pizzas, beside a generous list of pub classics, including a Lamb Pie with buttered mash, and Roasted Pork Belly.

Throughout the week there are specials and events, such as Tuesday Trivia and Parma night Wednesdays, where $1 from every parma sold will be donated to Koala Kids, courtesy of Australian Venue Co’s locally-tailored Local Heroes charity partnership programs.

And on Sundays the Auburn offers a roast, and Kids Sunday Funday, with free petting zoo from 12.30-3.30pm.

In celebration of its re-opening, the pub is putting on a Locals Weekend on 17-19 November, where the first drink is on the house – redeemed via The Pass app – the petting zoo and kids’ entertainment will take place Saturday and Sunday from 12:30pm, and live acoustic music will play both days from 4pm.

Located in Melbourne’s inner east, the new Auburn provides the local Hawthorn community new indoor and outdoor choices.

“We’ve been serving the Hawthorn community for 135 years, so this transformation is well deserved and taking over the next-door site means more space for our locals to gather and enjoy,” says venue manager Scott Matthews.

“We can’t wait to see more good times and memories be made at The Auburn and look forward to welcoming everyone back.”
