Classic Queensland-style country pub the Station Hotel in the Fraser Coast region is being offered to market for the first time in more than four decades.
The Station is in Tiaro, approximately 250 kilometres north of Brisbane, just south of the regional hub of Maryborough, which is seeing economic growth and residential development.
Known by locals as ‘The Hideaway’ the pub embraces a warm, “homestead” character, offering public bar, full kitchen and bistro, gaming room with Keno and four coastal gaming authorities worth circa $700k, beer garden also used extensively for functions and live entertainment, and four motel rooms.
It reports annual gross turnover for FY23 of $1.1 million.
Occupying a generous 5,256sqm corner site, there is opportunity to develop or add value, potentially through an onsite bottleshop or more accommodation, or even to sub-divide.
The area is exposed to a lot of vehicular traffic, and known for its charming rural atmosphere and heritage-listed buildings serves as a popular stopover for travellers on the Bruce Highway between major destinations, such as Brisbane, Fraser Island and the Great Barrier Reef.
The Station was established in 1881, and since 1979 has been owned and operated by Colin McBride. He has no other pubs, and looking to retirement has opted to sell.
“The hotel benefits from a solid history of trading under the same stewardship for over four decades and it’s time to pass the baton on to the next licensee,” suggests Savills Australia’s Jason O’Meara, marketing the asset in conjunction with colleague Taylor Morris.
“Comparative to metropolitan cities and regions the opportunity will potentially offer an attractive passing yield for buyers, someone with fresh legs to take the hotel into the next chapter of its colourful life.”
The freehold going concern of the Station Hotel is being offered for sale via Expressions of Interest, closing Thursday, 5 October.
