Pub industry stalwart Tom Hedley has picked up the heritage Tolga Hotel in the Atherton Tablelands in his continued expansion in northern Queensland.
The two-storey Tolga Hotel is reminiscent of classic Queensland-style architecture, and the only pub and central to the township of Tolga, with its growing population approaching 3,000 residents.
It sports a recently renovated bistro and public bar, six pub-style accommodation rooms and a two-bedroom manager’s unit, and a strong drive-through bottleshop.
Significantly, in light of increasing regional tourism, it also holds approval for 28 budget accommodation rooms, and for 12 gaming machines, with plans already drawn to accommodate into the operation.
For just over a decade it has been the work of Steve and Laura Heslin, who have divested for an undisclosed amount to Hedley.
In recent years “Barramundi Tom” Hedley has been accumulating operations with potential in northern Queensland, particularly in Cairns and surrounds – as seen in his cornering the market in Gordonvale, purchasing all three pubs in the precinct.
The off-market transaction was negotiated by Savills Australia’s Christian Tsalikis.
“The sale by Steve and Laura Heslin to Tom Hedley marks an exciting time for both the seller and buyer, and we would like to take this opportunity to wish both parties every success with their future endeavours,” offered Tsalikis.
